Meet Brooke Knaus: The New Face of Fashion Innovation
In the realm of fashion ingenuity, few stories resonate as profoundly as that of Brooke Knaus, a former Miss Vermont and Miss Sprint Cup, who is reshaping how women perceive their wardrobe. Knaus launched her groundbreaking product, the Tucky, after years of navigating the challenges of motherhood and body image perception, ultimately turning her struggles into an empowering tool for women.
From Personal Challenges to Product Solutions
After having her second child, Knaus confronted the stark reality that motherhood can dramatically alter one’s self-confidence and body image. "I would look in the mirror, and I didn’t recognize myself," she admits. Chasing a way to reclaim her former self, Knaus experimented with fashion hacks, ultimately leading her to the eureka moment of creating an adjustable elastic belt that lets women tuck their shirts in to achieve a flattering silhouette without the bulk.
Launching Tucky on Shark Tank
Knaus’s journey took a pivotal turn when she pitched the Tucky on ABC’s popular show Shark Tank. On May 19, 2023, she requested $70,000 for a 30% stake in her business, showing off a product that needed minimal explanation. The sharks were captivated. After a compelling negotiation, Knaus secured a deal with Daymond John, agreeing on a 39% stake in exchange for investment, a testament to her confidence and business acumen.
A Rapidly Growing Business
Following the exposure from Shark Tank, Knaus experienced an explosive surge in demand. Tucky sold out in just 12 hours after her episode aired and was soon accepting hundreds of pre-orders. "It’s a milestone I never anticipated, like stepping into an entirely new paradigm," Knaus reflects. As she scales her production, Knaus is also venturing into other product offerings, like the Stitchy—a no-sew tool that allows for easy garment adjustments.
More Than Just a Fashion Item
Knaus also integrates philanthropy into her business model, donating a portion of her sales to a pediatric oncology clinic in Tanzania. This adds a layer of goodwill that resonates with customers who appreciate shopping with a purpose. With her growing platform, Knaus aims to empower women, illustrating through her products that innovative fashion solutions can foster confidence and community.
Changing Perceptions and Supporting Women Everywhere
With over 16,000 followers on Instagram, Knaus uses social media to showcase women of diverse shapes and styles wearing the Tucky. "It’s about more than fashion—it's about connection and support," she explains. Personal stories, such as how families adapt garments for children with different needs, highlight the emotional impact of her inventions, illustrating her belief that Tucky is more than a tool; it's a lifeline.
Knaus invites everyone to rethink their relationship with clothing, encouraging women to feel empowered and stylish, regardless of life changes. "Each sale comes with a story, whether it’s about boosting confidence or making fashion accessible for all," she notes. As Knaus continues her journey, it's clear that her mission transcends typical entrepreneurship; she is intent on weaving community and creativity into the very fabric of her brand.
