Getting to Know Your Community: Free Food Distribution at Southeast YMCA
Are you ready to make a difference in your community? Mark your calendars for the third Saturday of each month, because that’s when the Southeast Raleigh YMCA opens its doors for a special food distribution event that’s all about giving back. From 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Y is inviting everyone to come and receive a generous one to two weeks’ worth of free food, both shelf-stable and fresh, thanks to a partnership with Wake County.
Monthly Commitment to Nourishment
This ongoing initiative by the Southeast Raleigh YMCA, located at 1436 Rock Quarry Road, is more than just a one-time event. The YMCA is committed to helping families in need, having provided over a million meals since September 2020! Free food isn’t just about filling bellies; it’s about building stronger, healthier families and communities.
May 17: Special Offers to Keep Us Prepared
On May 17, 2025, attendees will not only receive nourishing meals but also a free weather radio as part of the City of Raleigh's emergency preparedness program. This is a great opportunity to prepare your family for emergencies while also benefiting from the food distribution. Having a weather radio could be essential for staying connected during unexpected weather events.
Join the Volunteer Effort—Family Fun!
The YMCA is also calling for volunteers to lend a helping hand. Children aged 12 and under are welcome to join in on the fun, provided they come along with an adult. It’s a perfect chance for families to bond while giving back to the community. Getting involved not only helps others but can be a rewarding experience for everyone involved. Sign up to volunteer and turn this opportunity into something special!

From cultural festivals and concerts to local farmers markets and arts exhibitions, there’s always something to do. Explore your local neighborhoods and don’t miss out on recreational parks, hiking trails, and other family activities. The Triangle is buzzing with life!
